Proofreading

As a professional, certified Proofreader and member of IAPWE, I am dedicated to ensuring that all written material I review is flawless and error-free. I have a keen eye for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting, and I am able to spot even the slightest of errors. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with various written content, including fiction and nonfiction books, medical and academic papers, blog posts, website content, and more. You can trust me to provide you with top-notch proofreading services that will make your content stand out in clarity, accuracy, and professionalism. With my help, you can rest assured that your written material will be polished to perfection, ready to impress your readers and impact your industry. Please contact me today to discuss your proofreading needs and how I can be of service to you.

Proofreading is the final step in the editing process and is done before a written piece moves to publication. Proofreaders are the final defense against surface-level typos and on-page formatting inconsistencies. In addition to performing the last scan for spelling, grammar, and punctuation, I am responsible for ensuring the written content is clear, accurate, professional, and reflects the intended message accurately.

Combination - Copy Editing and Proofreading

Basic Copy Editing and Proofreading are two separate stages in the editing process, although they often get confused with each other. Here are some key differences between the two:

Basic Copy Editing: involves reviewing and correcting the overall quality and clarity of the text; focuses on improving the readability and flow of the text, ensuring that it makes sense to the reader; it includes basic syntax errors, as well as making the text sound more natural and consistent; it may involve adding or deleting sentences or paragraphs, reorganizing sections of the text, or adjusting the tone to suit the intended audience better; it is done before proofreading, and after the initial draft has been written. Copy editing is more concerned with the content and structure of the text.

Proofreading: involves reviewing the final draft of the text to eliminate errors and inconsistencies; focuses on correcting mechanical errors such as spelling mistakes, typos, punctuation, and formatting errors; it does not involve making any major changes to the content, apart from minor grammar or spelling corrections; it ensures that the text is free of errors, and is ready for publication or distribution; it is done after basic copy editing is complete. Proofreading is more concerned with eliminating errors and ensuring the text is consistent and polished.
